The tempered glass platform is 8mm thick. The four load cell sensors are attached to the glass with UV glue allowing the spun aluminum disks to show through. Coupled with the glass platform the aluminum disks catch the light to shine and glisten. (Taylor does not use paint to adhere glass platforms to the sensor disks it detracts from the design of the scale). The 1.0 readout is highlighted by bright chrome making it easy to read.
